Top 5 in Amsterdam, Netherlands

Amsterdam will always have a little piece of my heart. It was such a special city to visit for so many reasons. Having our first big trip after covid made it so much sweeter. Amsterdam feels like a quaint town, even though it is a big city. From wandering the canals, stopping at cafe’s and eating some of the best food, it was a trip that will long be remembered So sit back, relax, and drink the very best moscow mule I have ever had.

The Dylan Hotel

The Dylan may be my very favorite hotel I have ever stayed at. The Dylan is part of the Small Luxury Hotel Group. With only 41 rooms, it was the perfect boutique hotel in the heart of the 9 streets. From the moment we walked in the hotel after a long day of traveling, the staff greeted us by name and were so attentive. The bar that served me the best moscow mule of my entire life and the delicious breakfast is a highlight of the trip. If you have the opportunity to stay here, don’t miss it.

Pianeta Terra Italian Restaurant

When we had a reservation snafu, we asked the concierge at the Dylan to find us a somewhat last minute reservation. They made some calls and got us in at Pianeta Terra. From the moment we walked in the door and were seated at our table to our last sip of wine, it was the perfect night. Europeans turn their dinner into an experience and it is not uncommon to spend a few hours around the dinner table (americans, take note). Our waiter was actually the owner of the restaurant and he spent time with us talking about his family and his craft. He developed a tasting menu that was tailored to our various palates. The food (and wine) were amazing. I am so glad we found this spot.

Van Wonderen Stroopwafels

Get on a plane and get yourself to Amsterdam right now to get yourself a stroopwafel. I made an epic mistake and only found this place at the end of our trip. I am still thinking about this dessert. It is a thin waffle filled with caramel and then topped with various candies. You will be glad you did.

Walk and Eat

Does this need an explanation? Walk around this gem of a city and eat and drink all the things. My favorite way to spend a vacation

.

Biking

After you have eaten and drank all the things, hop on a bike! Or maybe do that first. Did you know in Amsterdam there are more bikes than people? We loved our morning of biking around the very bike friendly city. We especially loved biking through Vondel Park.
