Top 5 in Key Biscayne, Florida

Key Biscayne, Florida is one of our favorite destinations for a long weekend. With the key located 15 minutes from the Miami airport, it is an easy location compared to many other parts of Florida. We have been to Key Biscayne with and without kids and both are a great trip. Sit back, relax, drink a Miami vice and picture yourself in this dreamy Florida destination.

Ritz Carlton Hotel

The Ritz Carlton Key Biscayne is hands down the best place to stay on the key. Centrally located, it feels like an island oasis, just minutes from downtown Miami and centrally located to all the places you would want to go on island. With two pools, a spa, a beach bar, and several restaurants, this place is the best. The adult pool and the kid pool are both amazing and the staff is attentive. I could not recommend this hotel enough. If you are bringing kids, the family pool is zero entry and great for kids. They have kids activities every hour to keep them entertained. My kids loved running around the central lawn at dusk with their vacation friends. The resort has a small intimate feel that made us feel comfortable with out kids running around and playing with their new friends.

The Beach

This is a no brainer. The water is clear, the waves are small, and the sand is soft. You can spend the day in a lounge chair with a fruity cocktail in your hand. One huge perk of the beach at the ritz is easy access to the beach bar, pool, and bathrooms. They also offer paddle boards, kayaks, and it is fun to watch the kite surfers. Even better, take a stroll on the beach down to this infamous lighthouse.

Dune

The epitome of beach bar perfection is Dune, the beach bar at the Ritz Carlton. You could belly up to the bar or grab a table and sit there all day enjoying the ocean views and strong drinks. The infamous bartender Geno has been there over 20 years and is a legend. I would recommend a Miami vice or skinny margarita. They are also known for their burgers, so try one of those to coat your belly.

Boaters Grill

Take a break from the ritz and take a bike ride or quick uber to Boaters Grill. It is a super casual waterfront seafood restaurant. You can also arrive by boat and grab a bite to eat. Their seafood is fresh and their servers are friendly. We loved our food and the sunset is one of the best on island.

Novocento

Located across the street from the ritz, this Spanish restaurant is the perfect dinner spot. Please please try the tres leches cake, I am still thinking about it.

All of my favorites were things we did on island. Of course Miami is a quick uber ride away, but I’ll save that for another day.
